Head of the Parliamentary Merit Committee, Demetris Syllouris MP, went on Sigma TV in the evening of 21 April to speak about the cancellation of the Parliamentary group’s hearings into actions taken against FBME Bank and its branch in Cyprus by the Central Bank of Cyprus and its Resolution Committee.
The hearings had been scheduled to be heard earlier in the day but were cancelled – for the third time – by the non-appearance of senior officials, the Minister of Finance, the Attorney General and the Head of Mokas, the financial crime fighting agency.
Mr Syllouris was understandably aggrieved at the efforts by officials to thwart the purpose of the Merit Committee in staging the hearings, and agreed to be interviewed on Sigma TV. We have produced a transcript of the interview here.
Additionally, a direct link to the TV service where the interview will be kept for some time, is provided by clicking here: http://www.sigmatv.com/shows/tomes-sta-gegonota/episodes/5476 It starts about 10 minutes in.
The programme is introduced by Chrysanthos Tsouroullis, and there is additional reporting by Andri Daniil.
Apart from Demetris Syllouris MP, comments are included from Andreas Damianou MP from the AKEL party and Andreas Kyprianou MP from the DISY party.
